ARRIVAL TIME
School begin promptly at 8:15 am (except on Minimum Days when it begins at 8:00 am). We strongly request that children arrive no earlier than 7:50 am. Students will not be let on campus until 7:50 am, and we cannot provide supervision until that time. To avoid your child missing valuable instruction time, please be sure he/she arrives on time.
CLASSROOM VISITATIONS
Parents are encouraged to observe in their child’s classroom. If a teacher conference is desired after a visitation, a separate appointment must be made. Preschool-aged children are not to accompany parents during classroom observations (or on field trips). By law, and for the protection of your child, class visitors must sign in and secure a Visitor’s Pass in the office when entering school. Please limit your classroom visitation to 20 minutes.
HOMEWORK
School and District policy dictates that teachers assign homework to all students on a Monday – Thursday schedule. Upper grades may occasionally be assigned homework on Friday or over the weekend. The approximate time allocations are as follows:
Kindergarten: 15 – 20 minutes per day
Grades 1 and 2: 30 – 35 minutes per day
Grades 3 and 4: 35 – 45 minutes per day
Grade 5: 50 – 60 minutes per day
Keep in mind that these are guidelines. The exact amount of time it takes for a student to complete his or her assignments depends on the individual child. If you have concerns about your child’s homework, feel free to discuss it with your child’s teacher.
