Leadership and School Site Council elections to be held Tuesday, October 4th at 2:50 pm

The election of members to the Justice Street School Leadership Council will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 2:50 pm in the Parent Center. If you are interested in being on the Leadership Council, please pick up an “Intent to Run” form in the main office by Monday, October 3rd. We need two parents for Leadership and two parents for School Site Council (see description below). The term is for two years.

The Leadership and School Site Councils meet concurrently on the third Thursday of each month at 2:50 pm.

The Leadership Council is responsible for the following local school policies:

  • Staff Development, student discipline guidelines and code of student conduct
  • Schedule of school activities and events
  • Guidelines for use of school equipment, including copier machines
  • Budgetary matters regarding instructional materials, state textbooks, integration funds and other budgets as determined
The School Site Councilis responsible for planning, organizing and evaluating activities related to the School Improvement Program and funding.An additional Advisory Council that parents can serve on is the English Learners Advisory Council (ELAC). ELAC advises and assists staff in the implementation and evaluation of the Master Plan and Bilingual Funds.
The Election Meeting is MANDATORY in order to run or continue serving on either the School Site and/or ELAC councils. You are encouraged to nominate yourself or another interested person to serve on the School Leadership Council as a way to get involved in Justice Street School.
